He's smart, engaging, affectionate with his people, and full of personality. Once he trusts you, his silly side comes out, and he genuinely enjoys working and connecting with his handlers. He's incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves to give hugs.... He's incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves to give hugs.At this time, Joey requires an adult-only home, not because he has ever shown aggression toward people, but because he is a big, strong dog who can get excited and physically overwhelming at times. He will need to be the only dog in the home, as he struggles with his dog-to-dog social skills and will do best without the stress of sharing space with other animals.Shelter life has been hard on Joey, but despite that, he continues to build trusting relationships with experienced handlers and show that he is capable of learning, bonding, and making a ton of progress. What he needs now is someone willing to see the dog behind the kennel door and give him the opportunity he deserves.Staff consultation is required prior to adoption to help ensure the best possible match and set Joey and his future family up for success.
