Darling Evelyn!! Our tiny senior seems to be stabilizing and settling into the routine. She's more alert, and toddles around in her little old lady way, happy to come back inside and nap the day away between meals and potty breaks. Evelyn has limited but functional hearing and vision which we weren't sure of before and peers hopefully at foster mom when snacks are involved. She's so tiny and frail but getting a little stronger and she seems fairly comfortable and content.... She's so tiny and frail but getting a little stronger and she seems fairly comfortable and content. Her sniffles seem to have resolved. Her cold is common in dogs coming out of shelters, and we're babying her as much as possible. This tiny senior girl was sitting alone and unwanted in a crowded shelter. In spite of the shelters repeated request for rescue nobody could take her and she was running out of time. We would far rather see her humanely euthanized at the shelter than left to suffer and die on the streets, but we knew we had to give her a sweet last chapter no matter how long or short that might be. We decided to squeeze her in, even though she's probably going to be a hospice case. She's just 5 pounds, very elderly but sweet and easy to handle. We will continue to assess her as we go, but most likely we're going to just love and care for her gently for as long as she has rather than put her through spay and dental and all the usual procedures.
